Riders’ Handbook: Mallorca

Early Access

Welcome to the early access Riders’ Handbook for our first retreat.

This is your insider look at what’s coming, and your opportunity to register interest.

Overview

Welcome to Mallorca, and to the first Solstice Escapes club retreat.

Situated in the Mediterranean sea, Mallorca is one of the top cycling destinations in the world. The Spanish island offers stunning scenery, smooth tarmac, and gentle weather to contrast with the epic climbs and twisting descents. Food on the island is world-class, with an incredible selection of riders’ cafés and restaurants. When not riding, there are towns and secluded beaches to explore.

Solstice Escapes will take you on a four night adventure on the island. Accommodation, breakfast, handmade guided group rides, ride fuel, and a send-off dinner are taken care of.

Riding

After breakfast each day, we’ll head out on the group ride. We stick together, but if you want to tear away on the climbs or descents – go for it. Just wait at the top or bottom.

Distance will be between 70 and 100 km.

Routes are handmade and exclusive to Solstice Escapes, and each day will take in a new aspect of the island. Routes will be shared via Komoot and GPX file before the retreat, so you can load them up on your device and even keep them after the trip.

All riders will be supplied with complementary fuel for the ride, including premium gels and drinks mix. Lunch will be at a café selected for the ride.

Eating

Breakfast

A nutritious breakfast to fill your legs for the days’ ride will be provided every day, and is included in the price of the retreat.

Ride Fuel

Complementary premium ride fuel will be provided every day. Bring empty jersey pockets for gels and drinks mix to keep you going for the ride ahead.

Lunch

Lunch, which isn’t included in the retreat price, will be a casual affair at a café or restaurant en route.

Dinner

A send-off dinner is included at a top restaurant on the final night of the retreat – an opportunity to relax and look back on the trip. On other nights, riders are free to arrange their own evening meals.

F.A.Q.

DO I NEED A BIKE?

Nope. We can secure one for you at the retreat, so there’s no stress handling a bike box on the way if you don’t want to. You’ll need to send us your measurements and cleat preferences so we can find the right setup for you. There’s an additional charge for the service.

WHAT KIT DO I NEED?

Here’s the list.

HOW FIT DO I NEED TO BE?

Routes will be between 70 and 100 km in length, often with many thousands of metres of climbing, so you should aim to be comfortable with these requirements. Our group rides are non-dropping, so nobody gets left behind. Climbs and descents are at one’s own pace if desired – so faster riders can tear ahead of the group – but you must wait at the top of each hill, and at the bottom of each descent. Flat sections are done always as a group, at a pace we are all comfortable with.
